Movie Review: Hansel and Gretel : Witch Hunters

Today we're gonna review the new Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. Which was released in January 2013.

This action/fantasy/horror had a great line up of people working on it like Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton who play our heoric brother and sister duo Hansel and Gretel. Famke Janssen brings her dark side to the table as Muriel, and Peter Stormare plays a lawman as Sheriff Berringer.

At the reigns of this fast paced film that had a running time of 88 minutes was director Tommy Wirkola.

It would be safe to assume in almost an hour and a half you would be ready for a movie to end, yet I was not. A high production value made for great scenes, awesome special effects and a good script, with a storyline that answered my life long question of, "What did happen to the kids that narrowly escaped a hungry wicked witch?" They grew closer to each other as any of us would after surviving a near death
experience. They started packing some awesome weapons and cool gadgets, threw on a lot of leather (as all heroes do) and started planting heroic foots in evil asses!
The fights were action packed with some gory scenes. So yes, this movie did have some violence with some strong language (like the F bomb) and a brief appearance of nudity. All this adding up to an R rating which I'd agree with. This is not a story for the kids, but something the adults will enjoy.

Is this one worth finding a babysitter for? Ladies two words... Jeremy Renner. Guys one word... yes!

This one sits at the top of my must see list. I'd go five stars but Famke Janssen played such a good evil witch that she scared me. So, with not wanting to reward evil yet having an interesting twist in the story. I give it a solid 4 stars.
