Movie Review: My Bloody Valentine (2009)

Have you ever caused a tragedy in life? In January 2009, Tom caused a horrific accident that cost lives, but he thought that was finally behind him. He was wrong!

Directing this 101 minute horror/thriller is Patrick Lussier.

Some of the brokenhearted cast is: Jensen Ackles as Tom Hanniger, Jamie King as Sarah Palmer, Kerr Smith as Axel Palmer, Tom Atkins as Sheriff Jim Burke, Kevin Tighe as Ben Foley and Richard John Walters as Harry Warden/The Miner.

After a drilling accident causes seven miners to be trapped in a collapsed mine, the rescuers fight to save them. The rescuers knew there was a chance they might find the miners dead, but how they died
wasn't what they expected. Wanting to make sure he had enough oxygen to live, Harry killed the other six miners. By the time he was rescued Harry was alive but in a coma. All this because the owner’s son forgot to vent the methane lines. A year later, Harry wakes up, and when he does, the blood begins to flow again. When Harry's done, the town will never forget how so many hearts... were broken on that bloody Valentine's Day.

If you're not a romantic and looking for something different for Valentine's Day, then here you go. This is a remake of the original 1981 My Bloody Valentine. The remake is the first R rated film that was projected in RealD (3D), but have no fear it was also released in 2D for the theaters that didn't have 3D equipment. There are a few spots in the movie where I could see 3D aspect being pretty cool to watch. Now yeah, the storyline is a simple slasher flick, but it moves at a pace where you won't get bored. Also, it has a nice playthrough that keeps you wondering what's going to happen next. The special effects where really good and gory. So here's your warning if you're not into seeing body parts being removed... rather painfully. The cast did a good job, and it was cool seeing Ackles play something other than his role of Dean on Supernatural. Overall, it's not the greatest of films, but if you're a fan of horror, then it is a good one to watch.

It's rated R for violence, gore, nudity and language.
